Do you know these affiliate marketing advice secrets? Not all common affiliate marketing advice holds up once you actually test it against real results.
Some of it is outdated.
Some of it is always a little off.
And some of it works for a specific situation that doesn’t apply to most beginners.

“Post every single day.”
This is repeated often and can be harmful advice for most beginners.
Especially anyone doing this alongside a job or other responsibilities.
Daily posting can come across as dedication, but it often results in thin, rushed content and burnout within weeks.
Consistent, well-researched content on a sustainable schedule.
Even just once or twice a week.
Will out-earn daily posting done in a rush.
Because search engines and readers both reward genuine usefulness over sheer volume.
“You need to promote everything for maximum income.”
This one feels intuitively true — more products, more chances to earn.
But it actually dilutes your credibility and confuses your audience about what you actually stand for.
The affiliates who earn the most consistently tend to be known for a specific, narrow set of recommendations they genuinely believe in.
Not a clearance house for every product in their niche.
“Success stories prove the method works for everyone.”
Be cautious with this one specifically.
Individual success stories are real, but they’re not evidence that a specific strategy will work identically for you.
Survivorship bias means you’re only hearing from the people it worked out for.
Not the much larger group for whom it didn’t.
Often for reasons unrelated to effort or the strategy itself.
“You need a huge following before you can make money.”

Intent-driven, specific traffic converts regardless of audience size, and plenty of profitable affiliate operations run on relatively small, highly targeted audiences.

SEO traffic is valuable because it’s ongoing and doesn’t require continued spending, but it’s also slow to build and unpredictable while you’re waiting for it.
Paid traffic, used carefully and only once you understand your numbers well enough to know it’ll be profitable, can accelerate things.
But it’s genuinely risky for beginners who don’t yet know their conversion rates and can burn through money fast with nothing to show for it.
Neither is universally “better” — they serve different stages and different budgets.
“Just be authentic, and the sales will come.”
Authenticity matters enormously.
Still, it’s not a magic substitute:
- For the actual mechanics.
- Specific searchable content.
- Real trust-building.
- And a clear path to a recommendation.
- Authenticity without structure is just a very honest, low-traffic blog.
The theme running through all of these is that affiliate marketing advice that sounds universally true and simple is usually oversimplified.
The honest version of most good advice comes with real nuance and real exceptions.
